Jaipur to Jodhpur is one of the most common outstation bookings in Rajasthan. At roughly 340 km and 6 to 6.5 hours, it fits comfortably into a single travel day, which makes it ideal for groups moving from the Pink City to the Blue City.
Timing the day
Leave Jaipur by 8 or 9 am. That gives you time for a relaxed lunch stop and reaches Jodhpur by mid-afternoon, leaving the evening for Mehrangarh Fort or the clock tower market. If you plan a Pushkar or Ajmer stop, start earlier.
Stops worth making
- Ajmer: the Ajmer Sharif Dargah is a major pilgrimage stop, and the city is a natural lunch break.
- Pushkar: a short detour off the main road for the lake and the Brahma temple.
- Highway dhabas: plan one tea and rest stop, especially with children or elders.
If you want to include Ajmer and Pushkar, treat the day as a sightseeing trip rather than a straight transfer.
What to see in Jodhpur
Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada and the old blue-painted lanes are the core sights. Umaid Bhawan Palace and the Sardar Market area round out a good half day. Our Jodhpur travel guide has the full list.
One-way or round trip?
A one-way drop and a round trip are quoted differently, because the vehicle and driver have to return to their base city. If your group is continuing to Jaisalmer or Udaipur, tell us the full itinerary so we can plan one vehicle for the whole circuit instead of separate hires.
Which vehicle?
For 8 to 17 people, a Force Urbania gives every passenger a proper seat and luggage space for the 6-hour drive. For smaller families, an Innova may be enough, and larger groups can use a mini bus. Details are on the Jaipur to Jodhpur route page and our Urbania hire in Jodhpur page.
Continuing to Jaisalmer
Many groups continue from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer the next day (about 285 km, 5 hours). See our Jaipur to Jaisalmer plan for the full two-day itinerary.
